Ohara-me (=woman from Ohara village) lives in Yase village and Ohara village at the foot of Mt. Hiei located in the north of Kyoto, and comes out to a town to sell charcoal or firewood.
Her hair is tied up into a knot.
She wears a black "kosode" kimono and a white underwear, a red and white thin obi belt, a pair of white "tekko" protectors, a pair of "habaki" leg protectors and "waraji" straw sandals.
Moreover, she carries firewood on the head which is covered a white "tenugui" towel.
"Song Writing No.71," published in the Muromachi era, describes Ohara-me as a firewood-peddler.
The reproduction of the figure in the photo depended on it.
The present Ohara-me wears an apron in front, which has 2 and a half width.
It has been completely changed with the original style of the Muromachi era.
