The model remains as the music accompanying traditional Japanese Court dances.

It descended to Japan in the government time of Emperor Jinmei in the Heian Era.

It is said that 88 or 40 persons rode horses and danced.

As for the case of Shitenno-ji Temple, although it was dancing of 6 dancers originally, it is that of 4 dancers now.

The dancers wear "ryoto" (=apron), and they fasten "sebie (=belt).

They have "kyujo" (=stick) of about 2 shakus and 7suns in their hands, and strike a ball like "hoju (=fireball)."

The dance reminds us the ball play at the Imperial Court.
